Sridhar Babu seeks return of vacant CPSEs’ lands

Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu has asked the Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy to return the lands allocated by the State government to the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). Minister Sridhar Babu, who is on a visit to the national capital, met with the Union Minister and discussed various issues.

He requested that surplus lands of public sector enterprises be handed over as the Centre has decided to sell them under disinvestment programme. He reminded that the Congress government had set up many public sector enterprises in the 1970s and allocated thousands of acres of land to them.

He asked the Union Minister to revive the cement plantin Adilabad and improve local employment opportunities. He reminded that the State government has given 2,290 acres of land free of cost along with 2,100 acres of limestone mines to this cement industry with an annual production capacity of 4 lakh tonnes. He requested Kumaraswamy to withdraw the decision to privatise the factory.

He said that new industries should be set up in the State as the conditions are favourable for setting up industries in Telangana. Stating that the State leads in ease of doing business,he reiterated that priority should be given to the establishment of industries as land, water and electricity are available here as per the requirement.

There is no dearth of trained human resources in the State and there is an abundance of skilled workforce at ITI, diploma and engineering levels, he said.

Kumaraswamy responded positively to Sridhar Babu's request to visit the State and cooperate with the development programs here. The Union Minister promised to come to Hyderabad soon and discuss all the matters brought to his notice with the authorities in Telangana.
